“Television Event"
THE DAY AFTER
TV Nuked Kansas!
The broadcast of "The Day After" on November 20, 1983
shook up the nation and President Reagan!
It had the largest audience of any made for TV movie ever -
100 million in the US and 200 million in the USSR.
It led to the biggest reduction in the world’s nuclear arsenals ever!
We will be promoting the broadcast of “Television Event"
on PBS stations coast-to-coast for the 40th anniversary!
If you act quickly the film could open with
"This program was made possible by [YOU!]"
along with your URL and logo or slogan.
You could reach millions of people for as low as $5,000!
15 second spots are available as well!
If that doesn’t fit in your budget, there’s still an opportunity to have your organization in the Nuclear War Prevention Kit, an online resource that will be offered at the end of film.
You could end up being thrilled about the results.
Orville Redenbacher sure was!
If you are interested in being included in the broadcast
immediately email Melanie Bennett – Melanie@futurewave.org
with PBS in the subject line.
We need to quickly edit [YOU] into the version we’ll be uploading to all PBS stations -- in time for the anniversary launch!
Remember, your donation of sponsorship is more than a chance to reach people -- it’s an investment in the survival of the world!
Or please donate whatever you can at GoFundMe (link under construction - thank you for your patience!)
Watch Jeff Daniels, the Director of the film, on the
People-Powered Planet Podcast!
How did a major US network make such an earth-shaking film?
Jeff brings us the nitty-gritty in his new film about the 1983 hit "The Day After" by interviewing the director and TV execs about the intense controversy extending all the way to the White House.
Nicholas Meyer, Directed "THE DAY AFTER” He also directed STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN and STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY-- and wrote STAR TREK IV: THE VOYAGE HOME.
We talked with Nicholas about how he was able, with grit and determination, to navigate the creation of this film through TV execs, aghast sponsors and a presidential attempt at censorship!
